Thank you to everyone who made it out to our kick off Fundraiser happy hour at Tonic in Washington, D.C. It was a great success because of all of you - we raised $821 from your generous donations and another $150 from your awesome drinking ability! Thank you again!It was so nice to see so many of our friends and co-workers all meeting up to help us in our goals to raise $8,000 each to support Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) efforts in East Africa. To put it in perspective - our first Fundraising event provides enough money for VSO volunteers to train 40 local teachers in special teaching methods and in the management of Special Needs Units in Kenya in order to support children with disabilities. Amazing!
A special special thank you to Kathryn, Chase, Susie, and Kelly for pushing us over our minimum at the bar and purchasing champagne for a "Toast to the Top of Kilimanjaro!" - we are so thankful!
Our next Fundraising event will be in February in Arlington, VA - look for more information to come soon!
Liz and I plan to update everyone on our training efforts (we swear we will start getting more intense after the Holidays!)
